she is 16 years old. Let me make that very clear at the beginning of the following text. Princess Alexia is 16 years old, so still a child and not ‘on the verge of adulthood’, no, 100% a child. She is called a ‘kech’ by many types on social media, which comes from the Moroccan kehba, which means slut or whore. Well, I don’t think I need to explain to anyone what the definition of whore is and there you have my first point: Where exactly does it go wrong in your reptilian brain when you put that label on a child of 16?

Undesirable behavior

We’re talking about a 16-year-old girl who puts the flowers outside with a group of peers. Or inside, because I hope so – for the autumn weather they are a bit scantily dressed. But who cares? They have fun, push the limits and display completely healthy adolescent behaviour. They do not ask, as is of course also widely suggested, for undesirable behavior from men. Even though they are stark naked, NO ONE asks for unwanted behavior from men – that is, and the word says it all: unwanted. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to predict that this girl will in no way benefit from having this photo out on the street. ‘Shouldn’t have had it made’, I hear people think. And that’s what we call victim blaming.

And now everyone likes it all. Men unleash their crazy sexual fantasies (jokingly ask for her number) or call her a whore. And plenty of women praise the way she apparently doesn’t care at all about the royal nest in which she was born. And people are ‘scared’ by it, because teenagers partying is a complete novelty.

Own child

Their social media profiles are often kept only for friends, but the majority of adolescents have provocative photos on Insta in the eyes of parents. And do you, as a father or mother, know what is happening on Snapchat? After 24 hours it’s gone, that’s not easy, is it? Your own 16-year-old child is probably exactly like Alexia at parties, only your daughter’s images don’t end up being shared thousands of times on social media. She does have her privacy, thankfully.

Queer Focus Week

Shall we just not make it bigger than it is? A 16-year-old partying in an admittedly rather daring outfit? (An outfit that looks great on her by the way!)
