The Riga A Cappella Festival in 2021 will take place from October 12 to 17 with concerts by several bright artists and unique music projects. The special event of the festival will be the online concert of the famous British vocal ensemble “VOCES8”.
“The Riga A Cappella Festival is an opportunity to experience great concerts, gain inspiration and confirmation of the unlimited possibilities of the human voice. In the program of the festival we will meet great vocal music performers and we will be online together with the excellent vocal ensemble “VOCES8” from Great Britain “, says the organizer of the festival Guntis Cimiņš.
On October 12, a music program with ancient songs of the Orthodox Church and several bright contemporary compositions will be performed at the Riga Dome Cathedral. The concert will feature the chamber choir “Logos”, which has gained its international recognition with performances of Orthodox music programs.
On October 13, a fun evening dedicated to barbershop-style singing “Barbershop Harmony Night” is expected in the Small Guild. Many popular compositions will be sung in the concert, the performances of the artists will be mixed with a story about the beginnings of the barbershop music singing tradition in the world and in Latvia. The concert will be attended by the vocal ensemble “Harmony4Riga”, the host of the evening Valters Krauze and several musical guests.
On October 14, Riga St. The brightly announced “Riga Project Choir” will perform at St. Peter’s Church. The concert will feature a unique and musically challenging program with the talented American conductor Christopher Walsh-Sink. The “Riga Project Choir” consists of 40 experienced singers in Latvian choral music, choir programs and concerts always attract a wide range of listeners’ attention, becoming significant cultural events in Latvia.
On October 16, the choir event “ChoirUp” will take place in the concert hall “Palladium”. At the event, the audience will be part of the choir, several popular songs in a new form will be taught during the evening and being together will be enjoyed. The event “ChoirUp” will be hosted by conductor Nora Žeigure, Edavārdi, DJ Monsta and special guests will participate.
British vocal music stars “VOCES8” will perform in an online concert on October 17. The concert “VOCES8” will offer a wide range of programs from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary music and arrangements of popular compositions. Registration for the “VOCES8” concert will be available on the festival website.
