Nordic elegance: singer-songwriter Anna Ternheim
Stockholm-born singer-songwriter Anna Ternheim’s soulful songs touch people far beyond Sweden. Her songs contain elements of jazz, folk, blues and even hip hop. This is accompanied by Ternheim’s warm, crystal-clear singing – previously exclusively in English, but in recent years she has also been singing more in Swedish. Her poetic songs, which she describes as “nighttime music”, can be heard live on the Geyserhaus park stage in August.

Noise Pop from Leipzig: Atlas Bird
The Leipzig band Atlas Bird makes dark wave in a pop style. Their sound seems bigger than you would initially think possible for a duo. Behind the hymn-like songs are just two musicians: Martin Schröder-Zabel (guitar, vocals) and Axel Kunz (drums, piano). Their sound is made up of the simple instrumentation of guitar and drums and Schröder-Zabel’s expressive voice.
A few years ago they showed their sympathy for the Brit’s legacy with an impressive rework of the Amy Winehouse hit “Back to Black”. Now they are giving a concert at the Plagwitzer Markthalle as part of the summer cinema in the run-up to the Amy Winehouse biopic of the same name.

Cat Power covert Bob Dylan
The American singer-songwriter Cat Power has always loved to cover songs – and she’s pretty good at it. She’s already released three cover albums. But she’s outdone herself with her latest coup: With “Cat Power Sings Dylan. The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert” she’s re-recorded a legendary concert in pop history, completely live.
Just like Dylan, she played the first half of the set acoustically, before playing the second half electrically with the help of a full band. What the musician has created here is not a copy, but truly on a par with the original. In Halle, you can be impressed by the new concert edition in August.

Emotional and danceable: Mine
Mine, actually Jasmin Stocker, is an exceptional artist. Her expressive and thoughtful lyrics combined with danceable melodies are among the best in current German pop. The Stuttgart native arranges her music not only for her band, but also for an orchestra or choir.
In February, Mine released her fifth album, “Baum,” which combines emotional ballads, a boy’s choir, and exuberant electropop. She sings about depressive phases, the death of her mother, and self-doubt, but also about growing beyond herself – just like a tree. After a sold-out concert in the winter in Täubchenthal, she is returning to Leipzig with the album for an open-air concert on the Geyserhaus park stage.

Indie pop with strings: Hotel Rimini
The Leipzig band Hotel Rimini impresses with honest indie pop with violin, cello and bass. Singer (and actor) Julius Fischer recites poetic lyrics in a rough voice about the crocodile tears of urban prosperity problems, coming to terms with the past on public transport or failing in the face of the brutalities of everyday life.
The six musicians came together in 2020. The fact that they all come from different areas such as theater music, jazz or indie rock is more of a blessing than a curse for their music. This is also proven by the debut album “Allein unter Möbeln”, with which the band is touring and is also coming to Halle to Objekt 5.
