New German Wave from Thuringia: Mamoré
The Thuringian band Mamoré celebrates the rebirth of the Neue Deutsche Welle. Here solemn synth melodies are combined with falco-esque singing. Founded in 2020 by singer Eric Schulz and bassist Paul Popp, the band has now not only grown into a quintet, but also released their self-titled debut album last December. Thematically, everything from heartbreak to euphoria is covered. It sounds sometimes dreamy and sometimes punky and is particularly easy on the ear. Their concerts are like a ride through the eighties – you can see that for yourself in October at Werk 2.

Post-punk band Interpol on anniversary tour
The music of the New York post-punk band Interpol shaped the sound of the noughties. The dark band thrilled indie fans and critics alike more than 20 years ago with their debut album “Turn on the Bright Lights”. Oriented towards the post-punk of the eighties, especially Joy Devision, the record delivered a broad sound with guitar riffs and deep basses – even if the four musicians appeared a little softer in their last albums.
Lead singer and songwriter Paul Banks’ lyrics are always opaque and full of innuendos. In 2004, Interpol followed up their celebrated debut with the record “Antics”. For the album’s 20th anniversary, they are presenting the songs from the record and a few others live again – including in the Leipzig Felsenkeller.

Indie-Folk mit Dekker
The American singer-songwriter Brooklyn Dekker has been part of the indie duo Rue Royal since 2003, which he forms together with his wife Ruth. He also travels solo under his surname Dekker. After already collaborating with the Berlin pianist Lambert, he released his solo debut “Slow Reveal” in 2020, which received a lot of positive criticism. He remained true to indie folk and impresses with restrained guitars and his wonderful voice. In March, Dekker’s third solo album, “Future Ghosts”, was released, which the musician is currently presenting live. He also stops in Täubchenthal in Leipzig.

Austro pop with Wanda
It’s been almost ten years since the Austrian band Wanda played their way into the hearts of fans with their song “Amore”. Since then, the band, which has now shrunk to a trio, has released six successful albums, won numerous awards and secured a permanent place in music history with their unmistakable sound, a mix of rock ‘n’ roll, pop and profound lyrics.
Live on stage, Wanda is bursting with energy – whether in a small club, large concert hall or open air. In the fall they are on the “Ende nie” hall tour and are also coming to Leipzig.
