Swedish post-rock: EF
You might think that EF are a typical post-rock band, combining Nordic melancholy, indie rock elements and occasional hardcore outbursts in their music. But the amazing thing about this band, which was founded in Gothenburg in 2003, is that it can be hard and sweet at the same time. The four Swedes are just as popular with indie or post-rock audiences as they are with fans of heavy metal. And unlike many of their post-rock colleagues, who have a certain tendency towards pathetic megalomania, EF know how to party – which they will also prove in Dresden.

British indie pop heroes: The Wedding Present
The Wedding Present were one of the most successful indie pop bands in Great Britain at the end of the 1980s. Now the Brits are returning to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the release of their album “Bizarro”. On the band’s second studio album, released in 1989, singer David Gedge managed to squeeze heart-wrenching despair and dark sarcasm out of every line. The album begins with the catchy tune “Brassneck”, later followed by one of the band’s biggest hits: “Kennedy” not only has dramatic guitar build-up that builds up to a whirlpool of sound, but also brilliant lyrics to sing along to, as you will hear live at the Groovestation in Dresden.

He has happily opened up the boundaries between classical and electronic music. And his mixture of ambient textures and atmospheric electronics has earned him many fans all over the world. Numerous tours and concerts around the globe have cemented the reputation of the Berlin-based pianist, composer and producer as an exceptional instrumentalist and fascinating live musician. On anniversary tour: Annett Louisan
20 years ago, Annett Louisan released her debut album “Bohème” and thus began her great career as an impressive singer who brought together chanson, jazz and pop with German lyrics. In a way that had never been heard before and that is still difficult to describe today. “Annett’s slovenly songs stick to you like glue,” wrote Stern magazine at the time, and came pretty close to the truth. After the anniversary concert in Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie was completely sold out within a very short time, she is now coming to Dresden, among other places, to take the audience on a journey back in time to 2004. Because she just wants to play!

Transcending in music: Jacques Palminger & 440 Hertz
Jacques Palminger & 440 Hertz have a vision: to bring dreamy, melodic music in the style of the late 60s with German lyrics and polyphonic singing into the here and now. A vision that has long since become reality. “Die Sehnsucht der Sterne” is the name of their third album, which was released this year. And the Studio Braun member’s band knows how to put this longing into music very well. Or as they describe it themselves: melancholic inspirations, washed up by the Hamburg rain, hit with magic jazz! Their jazz rocket doesn’t care about liquid hydrogen! They don’t believe in UFOs, they believe in Tartufos! They want to transcend in music! You should definitely be there.

Viennese humor: Voodoo Jürgens
Voodoo Jürgens is difficult to understand – at least if you don’t speak Austrian. But it’s worth listening to the Viennese singer-songwriter with his dark sense of humor. In his songs he tells stories of outsiders, crooks, losers and left-behind anti-heroes. In Dresden, the Austro-pop singer is presenting his current album “Wie die Nocht noch jung wor”, on which he also talks about his own struggles and lets us share in his inner life. His band swings, twists and jazzes their way through a panopticon of the most beautiful sounds in a non-musical, tasteful way and always with a passion as if their lives depended on it. It’s fun even if you don’t understand everything.
