Māris Sirmais, the conductor of the multi-artist Rihards Fedotovs, noticed him in a humor program on television and, surprised by the new talent, offered cooperation. As a result, the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, together with Fedotov, will perform his music in a concert dedicated to the National Day.
“Combining the world of electronic music with an orchestra is definitely a challenge. These works are not exactly in the form of classical music. Everything is very metronomically accurate – as is typical in electronic music. There must be stability, it must be played like cars,” explains the composer.
An important role in the concert is also given to Raimonds Tiguls’ oratorio “The Book of the Sea”, “Honor to God in High” performed by organist Iveta Apkalna and the music of Imants Kalniņš.
Conductor Māris Sirmais says: “This music has already proven itself. Not like it is in contemporary music, when it is experienced for the first and last time in the premiere, but this music has already proven itself to be the music of eternity. I am sure it will sound good even after 50 or 100 years. “
Even before the concert, several musicians said that they felt the approach of the national holiday – this self-enchanted mood prevails in almost every rehearsal. The organizers of the concert – “Big Amber” are pleased that it will be handed over not only to the listeners who came tonight, but also on the evening of November 18 in a free broadcast on the website of the concert hall and on the account of “Big Amber” on social networks.
“It is a pleasure that not only people here, but all over Latvia, but also the world will see it. It is really a monumental concert. A great, vocally symphonic, thorough, with our Latvian values, wonderful soloists,” says Timurs Tomsons, the head of the concert hall.
