The Amicale des Arméens de Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées is organizing its traditional concert for the benefit of children, Friday November 22, at La Halle aux Grains. This year, for the 28th edition, she invites the group Vagabundo with Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabedian, also violinist of the Wanderer Trio who will start the evening. He will perform Offenbach, Khachaturian, Babadjanian, Komitas and Schubert. This celebration of solidarity will continue with the group Vagabundo and its rhythms and melodies from Argentina, Spain, Cuba, but also the Balkans and Armenia. From klezmer to Latin jazz.
“The profits will be donated to children in Toulouse and Armenia, from families in great social and economic difficulties,” explains Gérard Karagozian, vice-president of the Association of Armenians of Toulouse.
The allocation of profits for 27 years has been distributed between the House for the Rights of Children and Young People in Toulouse: €179,000, “Street Children” in Armenia (Vardachen Establishment): €176,000, aid to victims from AZF in 2001: €6,000, the renovation of an orphanage in the suburbs of Yerevan: €25,000 and equipment for schools and canteens in Armenia: €16,000.
The cultural actions of the Association were enriched by charitable activities from 1988, the year of the terrible earthquake which struck Armenia.
