Big Apple feeling in the Lokremise: The concert show “New York – New York” planned for 2020 will take place this year

The pandemic and the official measures posed great challenges for the Werdenberg music school, which is why they postponed their concert show. On September 17th and 18th of this year the Lokremise will open its doors to songs by artists who have become world famous from New York.

The concert show puts classics from the 1930s to the present in the spotlight.

Yellow taxis, long streets lined with brightly shining advertising signs and a district that is entirely dedicated to entertainment: the unique charm of New York delights people from all over the world.

The Werdenberg Music School wants to bring the atmosphere of the city that never sleeps to the Lokremise Buchs with its concert show “New YorkNew York”. “The guests can look forward to the ultimate New York experience,” says project manager Renate Wehinger. On September 17th and 18th, the Lokremise opens its doors to songs by artists who have become world famous from New York.

Concert show had to be postponed

However, the concert show was already planned for last year. But the pandemic and the official measures presented the organizers with major challenges. “We could only have put on the show with a lot of effort,” reflects Dennis Mungo, headmaster of the Werdenberg music school. Both the atmosphere and the quality of the concert show would have suffered under the restrictions, Wehinger and Mungo agree.

After carefully weighing the effects, the Werdenberg Music School decided to postpone the concert show for a year. Today the starting position is different. The number of cases continues to fall and, following the recent easing, events are also allowed in closed rooms again.

“Now there is only one thing in focus, the show”

Renate Wehinger said:

“I am pleased to be able to offer the guests more culture and entertainment again.”

She had to empathize with the subject of “New York” again, but now she is highly motivated again. “For me only one thing is in focus now, the show”. The organizers are currently allowed to welcome up to 100 guests to the Lokremise. Dennis Mungo is optimistic: “We hope that the situation will continue to improve so that we can play in front of more guests at Premiere”.

It is also optimistic that most of the artists have made themselves available for the show again. “The Lokremise is a special place not only for the guests, but also for the artists, with lots of charm and strong expression,” says Mungo. Tickets for the concert show “New YorkNew York” in September can already be purchased online or by telephone from the Werdenberg Music School.
