On August 13 at 19:00 on the stage of Cēsu Pils Park, as part of the “Cēsis 2023” Art Festival, a concert performance “Kārlis Lācis and his music theater” is expected, which composer and head of the Musical Department of Daile Theater Juris Vaivods will tell more about in Tuesday’s “Urgent Conversation”.
The instrumental ensemble “Ziedonis. Lācis. Vīrieshi” under the direction of Kārlis Lāčas, the choir led by Jurģis Cābulis will take part in the concert performance, while the soloists will be Aija Vītoliņa, Aija Andrejeva, Agnese Jēkabsone, Ieva Kerēvica, Intars Busulis, Emīls Balceris, Jānis Aišpurs and Klāvs Koshins.
Kārlis Lācis is one of the brightest composers of his generation, whose list of works has a special place for musicals and theater music scores. Already the first musical composed by him “Put, vējini!” became a hit of the Liepāja theater for several seasons, gaining the love of the audience and critical acclaim.
The brightest musical numbers selected especially for this evening will allow the listeners to once again relive the stories of the characters of the plays “Pūt, vējini!”, “Onegin”, “Joan of Arc” and “Purva bridējs ugunī” performed by great soloists, musicians of the choir and accompanying group, associates of Kārlis Lāčas, in interpretation.Intars Busulis
