Concert on January 1st – Poysdorf: Sound New Year’s greeting from two bands

“Very few orchestras manage to play such a great concert on New Year’s Day,” emphasized district bandmaster Josef Pleil at the New Year’s concert of the youth costume band of the wine town of Poysdorf and the music association of Poysdorf and the surrounding area on Monday. The youth band, led by bandmaster Roman Schreiber, opened with “Wings to Fly” – “a piece that invites young people to fly and conquer the world,” said moderator Harald Reichart.

Music club chairman Thomas Hrabal and his colleague from the youth costume band, Cornelia Mauser, warmly welcomed State Parliament President Karl Wilfing, Mayor David Jilli and city priest Bernd Kolo to the concert. Among the guests were numerous members of surrounding music clubs – such as the Staatszer chairman and board director of Sparkasse Poysdorf, Markus Fischer.

The youth costume band achieved an excellent result in the concert music assessment at level B with 92 points. The music club competed in level D and achieved excellent success with 92.75 points. Lisa Aigner, Lisa Schneider and Victoria Strobl were new members of the youth costume band. Kapellmeister Roman Schreiber received much applause for this orchestra’s performance. Deputy Kapellmeister Johannes Rabl showed his skills with a piece from the musical “Mona”.

Elisabeth Kirchweger from the Mistelbach district working group wished the young musicians a lot of fun making music and emphasized that their performances bring joy to many people in Poysdorf. The first part of the concert with the youth band ended with the Bolzano Mountaineer March as an encore.

In the second part, after the break, the Poysdorf and surrounding music club could be heard under the direction of bandmaster Richard Jauk. The orchestra opened its program with Antonín Dvořák’s celebratory march, composed to mark the silver wedding anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth. This was followed by a Strauss waltz and the operetta sounds from “Der Göttergatte” by Franz Lehar.

District bandmaster Josef Pleil presented Aaron Böhm with the bronze badge of honor and emphasized that he is a prime example of an excellent archivist. The music club’s young musicians this year include Valerie Hugl, Matthias Rabl and Julius Rieder, with many members being represented as musicians in both bands. This and the joint performance at New Year’s are a sign of the good cooperation that exists between the youth costume band and the music club in Poysdorf.

Before the Radetzky March traditionally marked the absolute conclusion of the New Year’s concert, there was an encore of the Garden Polka with a vocal contribution from Anja Strobl and Thomas Hrabal.
