Concert in tribute to Piazzolla at the Teatro Argentino

The Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires presents a tribute concert to the musician and composer Astor Piazzolla, under the slogan “Winter in Buenos Aires at the Piazzolla”. The musical proposal, which will be in charge of the Ensamble Bonaerense, will take place next Sunday, August 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Astor Piazzolla Hall of the Provincial Arts Center Teatro Argentino (Av. 51 between 9 and 10).

The event will cover a repertoire of Piazzolla’s most renowned and celebrated works, and will feature Leticia Corral, Gastón Corral, Germán Fredes and Diego Fiamingo as guest artists. Admission is free with online reservation, and will be available from Thursday, August 8 at 12:00 at the Argentine Theatre website.

The Ensamble Bonaerense is a proposal from the Cultural Institute that seeks to recover different musical expressions from the region such as milonga, huella, cumbia, candombe, among others, which are approached from multiple aesthetics with a criterion and an imprint that characterizes them. It is made up of thirteen performers of popular music who come from diverse backgrounds and trajectories, which enables an exchange that enriches the recontextualization of identity traits of the music of the Province.

Leticia Corral She began her studies at the age of 6 with her aunt Leticia Corral, and continued her piano lessons with Professor Elizabeth Westerkamp. A graduate of the Gilardo Gilardi Conservatory, she won a scholarship to continue her musical studies in the former Soviet Union (now Russia), where she graduated from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory as a teacher and pianist.

For ten years he has played with various symphony orchestras in Argentina and the European continent, under the direction of renowned conductors such as Mariano Drago, Guillermo Hemmigsen, Vladimir Shpak and Norberto Ataguile. He currently works as a teacher at the Faculty of Arts and the Bachelor of Fine Arts. He is also part of the “Música con Vos” cycle, a musical proposal by the Cultural Institute and the Fudeso Foundation, with the aim of bringing art to those most in need.

Gaston Corrala cellist with an extensive career on stage, perfected his skills for six years in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied with Pedro Gorostola Picabea, who in turn had been a disciple of Pablo Casals. Among his musical trainers we can find notable figures such as Norberto Ataguile, Nicolás Finoli, Sergei Potrieva and Staninir Todorov. He currently works as a teacher at the Fine Arts High School.

German Fredes He was born in the city of La Plata. From a very young age he showed a great interest in music, a legacy that he carries with him thanks to his father, the musician and bandoneon luthier Juan Pablo Fredes. He studied violin at the Gilardo Gilardi Conservatory. Later, he entered the Popular Music School of Tandil, where he studied bandoneon with professor Omar Subelza.

He studied tuning and lutherie with the renowned teacher Enrique Fasuolo. He also took private bandoneon lessons with Julio Pane and Rodolfo Mederos. Since 2017 he has been studying Music at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory in the City of Buenos Aires, with an emphasis on the bandoneon instrument and accompanied by professor Rodolfo Daulicio.

Diego Fiamingo Fiamingo was born in Buenos Aires. He began piano lessons at the age of 9 with Jenny Blech, which inspired him to attend the music school at the Catholic University of Buenos Aires. For three years, Fiamingo lived in Spain studying interpretation and training with maestro Antonio Deraco. Fiamingo represented the United States at the OTI festival with the Costa Rica Philharmonic, and was in charge of the orchestra’s musical arrangements. He began writing his own music at the age of 15, and today he has more than 146 songs in his catalog. Currently he is part of the Fudeso Foundation, with which he worked on the Solidarity Project “Música con Vos”, promoted by the Cultural Institute of the province of Buenos Aires.
