Concert for sick hearts – Freiburg

Open air at the children’s clinic.

The Jugendblasorchester Breisgau Projekt (JBO) will be performing at an open-air benefit concert including the handover of donations on Saturday, June 25 at 5 p.m. behind the university children’s clinic in Freiburg. Around 50 musicians between the ages of 12 and 20 play in the youth orchestra of the Upper Baden Brass Band Association. Under the motto “Heart Beat” they collected donations for the Herzklopfen association, a self-help initiative by parents with children who suffer from various heart diseases. The association supports affected parents and relatives who are confronted with their child’s heart disease and offers, among other things, help with accommodation in a parents’ apartment and with pastoral care in the children’s cardiac wards. With this benefit concert, the JBO and the Brass Band Association are supporting a sailing weekend with a camp for young people in August on Lake Constance. The new musical director Dennis Droll and Steffen Schmidt, deputy youth director of the OBV, had the idea for the charity campaign. Thanks to the good contacts to the university hospital in Freiburg, through Nadine Bohnert, the managing director of the OBV wind section youth, the idea could quickly be put into practice. The heart-pounding team sells waffles at the benefit concert, and the Musikverein Lehen takes care of the catering.
