On March 25, the Grand Guild gave a concert entitled “Elgar, Grieg and Peterson’s New Work”, in which Atvars Lakstīgala was the conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, and soloists – flutist Dita Krenberga and LNSO double bass group concertmaster Oskars Bokanovs. The program includes the premiere of Kristaps Peterson’s Concerto for flute, double bass and orchestra, as well as Edward Grieg’s suite “Per Gints” and Edward Elgar’s variations “Enigma”.

Kristaps Pētersons’ work especially for these musicians – Concerto for Flute, Double Bass and Orchestra – offers to enjoy the musical dialogue of the highest and lowest sounding instruments of the orchestra: ” “The flazolets sound so similar that they can’t be distinguished for a moment. Symbolically, it’s very beautiful that these two very different instruments meet in overtones.”

Dita Krenberga from 2006 to 2018 she was the concertmaster of the LNSO flute group. She is a sought-after solo artist, the winner of several prestigious international competitions, and the first performer of the flute of many Latvian composers. She has collaborated with the authorities of the world of music – Leonard Bernstein, Seize Ozava, Jeffrey Teita, Jojo Ma, etc. Dita Krenberga has received the Grand Music Award for outstanding achievements in the performing arts.

Oskars Bokanovs graduated from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA) with Professor Sergejs Brīnums, and obtained a master’s degree from Miloslav Jelinek at the Leoš Janáček School of Music in the Czech Republic. Bokanov has been the concertmaster of the LNSO double bass group since 2017. He is a winner of several international competitions, a winner of the JVLMA and Swedbank Award of the Year. An active chamber musician and promoter of double bass, together with like-minded people he plays in the ensemble “Arcandela”, is the founder and member of the Riga Double Bass Quartet.

Atvars Lakstīgala has been the chief conductor of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra from 2010 to 2017, has been a guest conductor of the Latvian National Opera since 2009. Has collaborated several times with the Riga Orchestra, conducted at the Sigulda Opera Music Festival, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, the Bari Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Milli Reinsurance a South Westphalia Philharmonic.
