Concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of conductor Jānis Dūmiņš will take place in Riga Dome Cathedral / Article

At the initiative of the professor’s daughter Ilze Dūmiņa-Kroja and the “Dūmiņa Foundation”, the State Academic Choir, led by Dūmiņa and led by Andris Veismans, a former master’s student of the Latvian National Opera, was invited to participate in the concert. Riga Dome Girls’ Choir “Tiara” and conductor Aira Birziņa will play the program of the IV School Youth Song and Dance Festival for Mozart ‘s cantata for children’ s choir “Preparing for the Concert” with soloist Luiza Anna Razdovska and concertmaster Veronika Rinkula. According to the concert organizers, Jānis Dūmiņš was an outstanding and unique personality in the history of Latvian choral music – an innovator, seeker and implementer of new ideas, founder and manager of large projects. He has been the honorary chief conductor at the 13th General Song Festival, the Riga 800 Festival, seven school youth festivals and six student song festivals, thus becoming the conductor with the (longest) longest experience as a chief conductor of a song festival.
