The annual concerts in the Sports Palace gardens have already become a tradition. Music was performed there by Reinis Zariņš, Ieva Saliete and Matīss Čudars, as well as the group Magnetic Bach (Switzerland/Latvia). The three-year concert program will be concluded by the artists of the Latvian Radio Choir under the direction of Sigvardas Kļavas. In the program, the musical elements of Gregorian chants will mix with the improvisations of percussionist Mika Chavarts and the sounds of contemporary vocal music created by composers John Cage, Žibokle Martinaitīte, Arvo Perts and Santa Ratniece. The program was created in response to the idea of Sports Palace Gardens to draw attention to unused areas in the city and promote their transfer to community and cultural projects.
Sporta pils gardens are a project created by the people of Riga, which was created in 2020 with the aim of opening up the previously unused territory of Sporta pils and handing it over to the citizens.
The organizers ask you to bring your own blankets or folding chairs, and in case of rainy weather, to bring your own raincoats instead of umbrellas. Cafe “Palette” will be open during the event.
