The Wiesn open-air concert traditionally takes place on the second Oktoberfest Sunday at the foot of the Bavaria. At this cult event, presenter Dominik Glöbl welcomes personalities who are closely connected to the Wiesn to the sound of brass music. This year, viewers can also look forward to the folk music duo Marianne & Michael. BR television will broadcast the concert live. The open-air concert at the Wiesn has been a traditional event for almost 40 years. Around 300 musicians from the bands of the various festival tents gather under the Bavaria and play the most beautiful Bavarian brass music marches and melodies.
The conductors are prominent figures from the Oktoberfest and city politics who have made a special contribution to the Oktoberfest. This year, pop stars Marianne & Michael have announced that they will be performing a surprise medley as special guests of honour. They will be making a detour to the Oktoberfest at the end of their farewell tour. The crowning finale of the concert is traditionally the Bavarian anthem. Thousands of colourful balloons will rise into the hopefully blue and white sky above the Theresienwiese. (Text: BR Fernsehen)
