Concerns Raised as Expired Vaccines to be Administered in Zacatecas, Mexico

Zacatecas, Zac.- After the Ministry of Health of Zacatecas announced the arrival of a new vaccination day against COVID-19 in Zacatecas, the Secretary of the Health Workers Union in Zacatecas Section 34, Norma Castorena, said that this type Vaccines should not be used when they have expired.

The vaccine that will be applied, known as “Abdalá”, has an expiration date of November 30, although it is subject to expiration extensions that vary depending on the batch, which are endorsed by Cofepris. However, the union leader stated that both medical personnel and citizens are distrustful of making these types of movements.

Norma Castorena said that they hope that during the next month they will be able to use these batches before the expiration date, although she said that people do not usually accept this Cuban vaccine.

He said he did not know how these schemes operate, but stated that there should be better administration, since biological products are often stored for a long time and are only used during specific seasonal seasons.

“I am a nurse and I was taught in school that it expires on November 30 and expires on November 30. I have never known that a vaccine can be used and due to ethics from my point of view and in my personal training and professional you should not use an expired medication.”
