Concerns over NATO Summit decisions following angry tweet by Ukrainian President

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that he was afraid that the decisions of the NATO summit would worsen because of the angry tweet of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the way to Vilnius.

Nauseda’s direct speech: “The drama was very high, and at some point I certainly had reason to fear that the text might suddenly become much worse, or that it would miss things that are extremely important for us and for Ukraine.”

Details: He added that he understands Zelensky’s emotions, but at the same time he was aware that “we have already reached the maximum and any attempt to go further will destroy the Vilnius summit itself.”

“I say this very responsibly. It could have happened. It didn’t happen, and that is why we are speaking in a completely different tone today. Finally, President Zelensky, as you saw very well the next day, spoke in a completely different tone. And I, of course, I welcome the decisions that were taken in Vilnius,” Nausėda said.

Recall that on the way to Vilnius for the NATO summit, Zelensky posted on Twitterthat now among the allies there is no readiness either to invite Ukraine to NATO or to make it a member of the Alliance.

According to media reports, the Ukrainian delegation tried in this way to influence the course of discussions within NATO, but the reaction was the opposite. The United States was especially angry, which was not warned about the message on social networks, which forced the British and partly German delegation to intervene.
