Concerns over Counterfeit Aircraft Parts from AOG Technics

Manufacturers and regulators sounded the alarm weeks ago. Subsequently, attempts were made worldwide to trace the parts distributed by AOG Technics. It is not clear how many parts are involved or how many parts are already installed in aircraft. The CFM56 is the world’s best-selling jet engine. These are often on aircraft types that make up the largest part of the global fleet, such as the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320.

External companies such as AOG Technics supply parts to the workshops where commercial aircraft are tinkered with. EASA has now instructed airlines to isolate items with potentially forged documents. The watchdog states that on Thursday there was still no clarity from AOG Technics about the origin of the parts.

New engines from manufacturer CFM International would not be affected. This concerns, for example, the successor to the CFM56, which is used on the latest aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, such as the A320neo and 737 MAX. CFM International says it works with customers “to assess the authenticity of documentation for parts they obtained directly or indirectly from AOG Technics”.
