Kiev –
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his concerns regarding the presidential or presidential elections in the United States in 2024. He is worried if the Republican Party, which is different from the Party of current US President, Joe Biden, wins the 2024 presidential election.
As reported by CNN, Sunday (2/7/2023), Zelensky’s concern relates to the loss of bipartisan support from the United States. He said there were some dangerous messages coming from some people in the United States Republican Party.
“I’m afraid of losing bipartisan support from the US, given the dangerous messages coming from some Republicans,” Zelensky said.
However, Zelensky said he had made contact with Mike Spence, a high-ranking Republican Party who is fighting for a ticket to run for the US Presidential Election against Donald Trump. He called Mike Pence basically supporting Ukraine.
“Mike Pence has visited us, and he supports Ukraine. First of all, as an American, and then as a Republican,” Zelensky told a news conference with Spanish media in Kyiv on Saturday (1/7).
However, Zelensky said there are some parties in the Republican Party who do not support it Ukraine. He called Republicans support for Ukraine regarding the war against Russia too little.
“We have bipartisan support. However, there are different messages in their circles regarding support for Ukraine. There are messages coming from some Republicans, sometimes dangerous messages, that there may be little support,” he said.
Zelensky said that regardless of who wins the next US Presidential election, maintaining bipartisan support is the most important thing for Ukraine.
Later, during the same press conference, Zelensky was asked if he was afraid for his own life. He replied that it was dangerous for Putin.
“It is more dangerous for Putin because of the increasing number of international enemies of the Russian President,” he said.
