In Asia, the Tokyo Stock Exchange index “Nikkei 225” fell the fastest – by 12.4%. This was the biggest fall in this index since 1987.
On Wall Street, the S&P 500 index fell by 2.4% in midday trading. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 864, or 2.2%, and the Nasdaq Composite index fell 2.8%.
South Korea’s Kospi fell 8.8%, stocks across Europe fell more than 1%, and bitcoin from more than 61,000 ASV dollar fell below $55,000 on Friday.
Even gold, known as a safe haven asset, fell 1%.
