A member poll completed by 2,800 healthcare professionals shows that 49% are concerned, in particular, about the availability and soundness of mouth masks. In addition, 35% are concerned about other protective equipment, such as gloves and aprons.
Reporting point
Spokesperson van Erp: “Enough reason for NU’91 to start a hotline where healthcare professionals can report if things are not in order regarding protective equipment within their organization. The results of the poll are at odds with the conclusion of an investigation by the Ministry of Health, which would show that these resources are currently sufficiently in stock. ”
With the reporting point, the professional organization wants to quickly clarify problems in order to be able to take adequate action in the interest of the safety of healthcare professionals. Stella Salden, chairman NU’91: “During the first outbreak we saw, of course, that stocks were insufficient in many places. This has left deep marks on the confidence of healthcare professionals. They have become ill themselves and have been extremely concerned about protecting their own health, that of their loved ones and that of their vulnerable clients. This should not happen a second time. ”
The reports received via the reporting center are investigated and, if necessary, discussed with the employers, inspectorate or VWS. Stella Salden: “This is about the safety of our healthcare professionals and we believe that this must now be the highest priority.”
