Concern Country Director in Sudan Describes Terrifying Journey from Khartoum to Port Sudan Amidst Conflict

Concern’s Country Director in Sudan, AKM Musha, details the difficulties faced by a convoy he travelled with from Khartoum to Port Sudan. Despite the convoy consisting of 80 vehicles and hundreds of people, it took 34 hours to complete the journey due to flat tires and the hostile environment. The fighting began in April between the two main factions of the military regime, with hospitals and banks closed and food shortages increasing. Irish aid organization Concern has suspended operations in the region due to the dangerous situation. Irish citizens have been evacuated, but there are still over 100 remaining in Sudan. Concern’s call for the hostilities to stop so aid organizations can resume support for millions of people echoes through this harrowing situation.
