The concept of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle literally blew Craig Derrick, executive producer of Lucasfilm Games, away.
Lucasfilm Games Executive Producer Craig Derrick gives insight into the story and gameplay of Indy’s latest adventure, admitting that he was blown away by the concept and soon began researching it himself
“For an Indiana Jones adventure to really shine,” explains Craig Derrick, Executive Producer at Lucasfilm Games, “you need a world tour with a strong historical element – something that’s grounded in reality, but still has a touch of mystique or relevance. With The Great Circle, Todd Howard and the team at MachineGames have hit the nail on the head by putting a real mystery at the center of the story: a series of ancient sites around the world form a perfect, unbroken circle, but the reason for this alignment has eluded people for centuries.”
As Derrick admits, the concept “blew me away,” and he soon began doing his own research. “The more I learned, the more intrigued I became by the idea,” he notes, not unlike Indy’s own fascination that drives The Great Circle’s story.
“We explored what kind of MacGuffin might be connected to all of these locations and how each location could be authentically represented in the context of Indy’s life. This process of exploration and discovery drove the game world building from the beginning, ensuring that every aspect of the story was both true to the character and engaging for the player.”

“Troy embodies the charisma and presence of Indy in a way that feels like he has been preparing for this role his entire career,” says Derrick. “He knows the character inside and out, has the physical attributes to bring Indy to life, and understands the nuances of Harrison’s performance – he gets the tone and voice just right. Plus, Troy knows how to translate all of that on the performance capture stage. I had the pleasure of watching him deliver an incredible performance, and I often saw him directing other actors, helping them navigate the motion capture process, and truly enjoying every moment of this project. He is an extraordinary talent and brought something very special to the role of Indy.”
