Concept art for Red Dead Redemption 2, by a former Rockstar artist, has been discovered online months after its original publication.
Never before seen concept art for Red Dead Redemption 2 by a former Rockstar designer has been discovered online, giving fans an early view of what certain characters and locations were originally supposed to look like. The game launched in 2018 and acted as a sequel to the acclaimed Red Dead Redemption. Despite earning praise for its great single-player campaign, the developer has since confirmed that there will be no story DLC for the title in the future.
The lack of suitable DLC expansions for Red Dead Redemption 2 is due in part to the success of Red Dead Online. Rockstar has backed the game after launch with a dedicated online multiplayer mode that is similar to GTA Online. This has led the studio to launch Red Dead Online as a standalone game that can be played without the user needing to own Red Dead Redemption 2. It is currently available for only $ 4.99 on various platforms, although this price will increase from 1 February 2021.

GTAForums user deadasdisco discovered online previously unknown concept art for Red Dead Redemption 2. The artwork is by Daren Bader, a former Rockstar senior art director, who posted the images on ArtStation several months ago. Concept art includes character models, environments, and scenes from the campaign story. One of the released images also shows an early look at Arthur Morgan, the main protagonist of the sequel. Many of the artwork’s file names give an indication of what each of them represents, showing how the artists originally envisioned certain characters and areas.
Recently, players discovered references to Grand Theft Auto 6 in the Red Dead Redemption 2 code. According to Reddit data miners who examined the sequel code, several weapons are not available in either Grand Theft Auto 5 or Red Dead. Redemption. 2 are in a given file. This has led to speculation that these weapons could be included in the next Grand Theft Auto title, as they would be too modern to be used in the Wild West game.
Although the concept art doesn’t show anything quite as groundbreaking, it’s exciting to see how the designers thought Red Dead Redemption 2 might look during the early stages of development. In particular, seeing how Arthur Morgan and other characters were initially envisioned as interesting, especially when compared to their final versions. Hopefully Rockstar could create an art book to showcase even more concept work in the future.
