Concentration so that Jéssica and her two children do not have to leave their home

Members of the Platform for People Affected by Mortgages, the Andalusian Association of Ignored Neighborhoods and other youth groups gathered this Saturday on the esplanade of the Government Subdelegation to demand compliance with the decree-law that stops evictions for families in vulnerable situations until August 9 and, thus, prevent Jéssica and her two children from being expelled from their home on the 22nd.

«Neither the pandemic, nor the eviction decree, neither the justice, nor the government, nor the Social Services of the Jaén City Council nor the Housing Delegation of the Junta de Andalucía prevent evictions in our city, “they affirm from the platform.

In front of the Parque de la Concordia, banners were displayed that read slogans such as “Let’s stop the eviction of Jéssica”, “It is not a commodity, it is a right”, “For a public housing park”, “They are not suicides, they are murders”. The latter in tribute to the man who committed suicide in Barcelona when the judicial procession arrived in his eviction.

In this way, from the platform they warn that, if on Tuesday, December 22, June, Jessica with two children under the age of 15 and 17 “They go to the street without a housing alternative, it will be possible to certify in Jaén that the housing policy in this city is non-existent and a failure for impoverished families.”

“If you do not have a payroll or a guarantee you cannot rent a home, then there is no rental policy for impoverished people”, they comment, and they point out that, in the event that they have a guarantee “and what you receive is 430 euros of subsidy, you will be able to pay the rent of 350 or 400 euros and you will not be able to feed yourself or pay any other type of bill ». They denounce that such is the situation of Jéssica and the families that, when a mortgage or rental eviction occurs, suffer if they are not accompanied by public policies that overcome these obstacles.
