Conceived 7 years ago, the album “New York Sessions” by Fanny Bériaux takes back its rights

Originally from a classical training, Fanny Bériaux has gradually moved towards the world of jazz and soul. Today we can find in her music and in her voice the influences of Anita O’Day, Madeleine Peyroux, Erikah Badu, Ella Fitzgerald, Cassandra Wilson …

Fanny first studied music theory and classical piano in an academy, from the age of 8. She will continue her studies of classical piano for 11 years. During this period, she will also discover the guitar that she will learn to play in an autodidact way, and quite naturally, will begin to sing. These vocal experiences will continue in a more formal setting (classical singing lessons) and then on stage, as a chorister or lead singer. It was with Anca Parghel, at the time professor of jazz singing at the Brussels Conservatory, that Fanny discovered the world of jazz. Conservatory which she joined in 2002 while continuing her classical training as well as a degree in communication at the University.

Fanny Bériaux has just released her latest album “New York Sessions“recorded in almost live conditions, during a stay in New York, a real journey through worlds, styles, languages, musicians, feelings … and testimony of his many human and artistic encounters with Elysian Fields, Ben Perowsky, Kenny Barron, Tony Scherr The album was released 7 years after its recording, the time for a restorative break for this singer from Brussels.
