CONARTE Scene 2023 Theater Season presents the play “Virgo”.
The CONARTE 2023 Theater Season continues with the presentation of the staging “Virgo”, by Enrique Olmos de Ita and Daniela Arroio, a project that offers young people an opportunity to explore and reflect on the circumstances and implications that they live during this important stage of change for people, which is adolescence.
“After a year of its premiere, the play “Virgo” returns to the season, which puts on stage the conflicts and vicissitudes that we faced when we began to explore our sexuality for the first time,” shared Carlos Piñón, director of the staging.
“It is a space where there is an open dialogue about the sexual needs that make us human and that, in general, are seen as something shameful, humiliating and grotesque. No more!” added the theater player.
The work explores the subject from the perspective of two characters: a physical education teacher and a teenager who is in high school; who face a society that condemns and judges in many aspects, the first encounters with emerging sexuality in adolescence.
This project was guided by the teacher Maribel Carrasco, the production is carried out by Grésil Serna and Patricia Bueno, assistance in direction and production by Rubí Rivera and Kelly Cavazos, the set design by Mauricio Arizona, sound design by Carlos Edelmiro, costume design by Marcela Garza, direction advice by Mónica Jasso and set design by Esli Cortez.
“The CONARTE 2023 Theater Season reaffirms the organization’s mission of disseminating the broad panorama of the entity’s stage production, offering a diversity of themes and production models of local companies.
In this edition, themes such as romantic love, retirement, sexuality in young people, violence and memory, among others, are addressed through the perspective of the different groups that make up this season,” shared Emanuel Anguiano, coordinator CONARTE Theater.
“Virgo” will have performances on Friday August 18 and 25, Saturday August 19 and 26 at 8:00 PM and Sunday August 20 and 27 at 6:00 PM, in the Experimental Room of the Teatro de la Ciudad | WITH YOU.
