The Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), published in this Friday’s edition of the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), two agreements, through which it allocated to the service of the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas, two territorial areas, in the town of San Carlos, municipality of Guaymas, Sonora, for use in activities directly linked to the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable management of natural resources.
Particularly, it requires, to carry out monitoring and research activities, as well as the regulation of activities compatible with the Decree by which reserve areas and refuges for migratory birds and wildlife were established on the islands located in the Gulf of California, specifically, on the Chaperona and Pastel islands.
In the first agreement, it is highlighted that the area of 31,618 square meters of federal maritime-terrestrial zone, located on Isla Chaperona, town of San Carlos, municipality of Guaymas, state, is intended for the service of the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas. of Sonora, for use in activities directly linked to the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable management of natural resources.
It specifies: “particularly to carry out monitoring and research activities, environmental education, beach cleaning campaigns and surveillance tours, as well as the regulation of activities compatible with the Decree establishing a reserve and refuge area for migratory birds and of wildlife, on the islands that are related, located in the Gulf of California, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on August 2, 1978, recategorized by the Agreement that aims to provide a category in accordance with the legislation “in force to the surfaces that were the subject of various declarations of protected natural areas issued by the Federal Executive published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on June 7, 2000 and its management program,”
In the second agreement released in the DOF, this Friday, it is detailed that the surface of 15 thousand 105.33 square meters of the federal maritime terrestrial zone, located on Isla El Pastel, is intended for the service of the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas, San Carlos locality, municipality of Guaymas, state of Sonora, for use in conservation and preservation of ecosystems, supervision, surveillance, monitoring, care and prevention of environmental contingencies, ecological restoration, sanitation, protection of nesting areas of protected species and regulation of activities compatible with the Decree establishing a reserve and refuge area for migratory birds and wildlife, on the related islands, located in the Gulf of California, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on August 2, 1978.”
