Computer system and network down at Ålesund Hospital

All networks and computer systems went down at Ålesund Hospital, which has implemented emergency procedures and crisis staff.

– It is a power problem that has led to network failure. The matter will be worked on, announced communications adviser Hege Hegle earlier on Monday evening.

At 23.23, Helse Møre og Romsdal reports that the error has been found and corrected, and the hospital now has a functioning network.

The error was reported to them at 20.27.

Most operating systems will function as normal and the rest are expected to be operational within a short time.

The hospital has not received any reports of consequences for patients. They will have extra technical personnel on site in the future who will follow the situation closely.

The hospital had established green preparedness and put in extra resources to deal with the incident. This also applies outdoors where they have access to the internet.

– When the internet is down, there are various tools that cannot be used in the same way as otherwise. Then you have to have manual dialogue and other communication, says communications director May Helen Molvær-Grimstad in Kveldsnytt.

The health authority has its own procedures for such occasions where the IT system fails.

“These have been implemented to ensure that operations can continue as normal as tomorrow and that patient safety is safeguarded,” the health authority wrote in an e-mail.

– The hospital runs on backup power until the fault is resolved, Molvær Grimstad said earlier.

Hegle’s victory Sunnmørsposten that it is very rare that this kind of thing happens on this scale, and it has not happened in the eight years she has worked there.
