Computer Failure Causes Confusion for Trains to and from Ventimiglia, but Trains Still Operating – SNCF Updates

According to the TER PACA website and applications, no trains are running to or from Ventimiglia anymore. Don’t panic, it’s a computer failure, the trains are on the tracks this Monday.

Since this Sunday, all users who have tried to buy a ticket on the Internet, or simply to consult online the timetable for a train to or from Ventimiglia have been confronted with the same confusing message:

No itinerary found for the selected route and date. Please renew your search.

Accident on the track? Catenary breakage? Rail workers strike? Nothing of the sort. It is actually a computer failure. Strange failure, since the communications department of the SNCF in PACA confirmed it to us, it is the word “Ventimiglia” which causes the search system to bug both on the website and on the apps of the TER PACA network.

To try the experiment, it seems that the breakdown extends over the entire eastern section of the network. Try to book a train between Menton and Nice, the online site will tell you that there is no train between 9:34 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. Fortunately, false information.

The trains are indeed running, and go all the way to Ventimiglia! The SNCF therefore invites travel candidates to go to the station and make their ticket purchases directly from the ticket machines, which are operating normally.

Controllers have been called upon to be flexible and even sell tickets on trains.

Service communication SNCF PACA

This curious breakdown, identified by the SNCF IT services, is being resolved this Monday evening.

The few – very real – disruptions that exist on the TER network in PACA can be attributed to the ongoing strike movement among SNCF staff. These disruptions should be limited to the lines linking Marseille to Briançon, Aix-Pertuis and Toulon-Hyères.
