On average, image acquisition with the new spectral CT will only take one heartbeat. The devices are used to examine all parts of the body and provide a wide range of information.

“The latest technology allows us, for example, to map entire organs and their functions, to determine thrombosis in the shortest possible time, to detect reduced blood flow and even the smallest bleeding and to analyze kidney stones precisely. For the first time, we can now also display changes in the blood flow to entire organs and carry out better tissue characterization, ”explains Primary Antonius Schuster.

Good image quality thanks to artificial intelligence

Thanks to artificial intelligence, spectral CT delivers sharp, high-contrast images with a low radiation dose. “This gives us an outstanding image quality that improves the interpretation of the findings many times over,” describes Primary Manfred Cejna. The extensive and detailed image information enables doctors to query and evaluate all important data for making a diagnosis in just one examination.

In addition, the examinations are also much more pleasant for the patients because, depending on the region of the body, they can also be carried out while sitting. In addition, the devices are able to “deduct” artificial hip and knee joints or dentures in the body, which have severely impaired the imaging in older models.

Less x-rays

“The CT not only provide extensive information about the examined body regions, the examination procedures are also greatly reduced in terms of radiation,” emphasizes Primar Schuster.
