Opponents of the Corona measures have taken to the streets again in numerous cities in Germany. In Hamburg, according to the police, thousands of people marched through the streets at the demonstration under the motto “The measure is full. Hands off our children”. According to the police, around 11,500 people took part.
The police blocked several important streets in the city center. According to a regulation that only came into force on Friday, all demonstrators – in contrast to the previous weeks – had to wear masks. Jusos, the Green Youth and groups from the left-wing scene had called for three counter-rallies, to which, according to the police, almost 1000 participants are expected.
According to the police, around 1900 people moved through the city center in Schwerin. There were more demonstrators than applicants expected. The organizers spoke of 2300 participants. On posters it was said: “Stop the vaccination madness” or “To Chancellor Scholz: We are the red line”. According to the police spokeswoman, there were many families with children among the demonstrators. The city of Schwerin had made the organizers an obligation to ensure that distances were observed. In addition, according to the police spokeswoman, the participants were “strongly recommended” to wear protective masks.
1000 participants were registered for a protest march in Düsseldorf. The police estimated the number of those actually present at 4,000. The alliance “Düsseldorf is standing across” had registered a counter-demonstration with around 200 participants. According to a police spokesman, everything remained peaceful until late afternoon.
Last weekend, the authorities were surprised by the number of participants in an anti-vaccination demonstration. Instead of the registered 300, around 2500 people came, according to police.
