This Walkman is the cheapest series in the lineup released last year, but since it is an Android terminal, you can use various streaming services by connecting to Wi-Fi. The one I bought was the cheapest model called “NW-A105” without 16GB earphones.
If you have a dedicated earphone, you can also use the noise canceling function, but now that you have a completely wireless good noise scan earphone, you do not have to force it by wire. Since it is for streaming purposes and the SD card can be stored in the main unit, it is judged that the built-in memory is not so much.
The point is that it has all the supported Bluetooth codecs SBC, AAC, LDAC, aptX, aptX HD. I have a lot of earphone reviews, but if you have all these codecs, you can handle any earphones that come with you.
As for the playback codec, MP3, WMA, FLAC, WAV, AAC, HE-AAC, Apple Lossless, AIFF, DSD, APE, MQA and all the other things that I found out are supported. It’s okay if you get a file like this.
When connected by wire, it is played back by Sony’s proud full digital amplifier “S-Master HX”. It also supports the latest sound quality correction technology “DSEE Ultimate”. However, since it is limited to playing the genuine playback application “W. Music”, it is worthwhile playing the file, not streaming. That is supported by the previous generation “DSEE HX”.
In fact, when this product was launched, it did not support high-definition streaming services. However, with the May update, high-resolution streaming support is available. Also, the sound quality correction function during Bluetooth playback could not be used, but with the update program in October of this year, how much correction function can be used. It is also this update that supports DSEE Ultimate.
Although it was released last year, it has been continuously updated this year and is always trying to keep up with the latest features. It’s a common story that a year later, a powerful new product will be released and left by the previous user, but it seems that the development team is doing very well with this product.
On the other hand, the disadvantage is that sometimes it can’t be used in Android apps. Recently, the use of a dedicated app for setting all wireless earphone functions is increasing, but it happens that the gap app is relatively stuck even if it is installed. Well, in such a case, you only need to set it on a solid Android smartphone.
There is a weakness that it does not have a battery, but it is not a problem because there are no cases where I use it at home and use it when I go out.
The new Walkman products are shown around September to October every year, and this year is already such a time, so I don’t think there are any new releases at present. In that sense, it will be one that you can continue to enjoy the latest features for more than two years.
