JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Government through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs ( Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs) Mahfud MD conveyed his official stance in responding to the demonstration of the Work Creation Law (UU) which was colored by chaos.
In that statement, Mahfud regretted that the demonstrations were tinged with anarchistic actions by destroying public facilities and looting.
“This act is clearly a criminal act that cannot be tolerated and must be stopped,” Mahfud told a press conference that was broadcast Compass TV, Thursday (8/10/2020).
Mahfud said the government respects the freedom of opinion of the people, including in their attitude Work Creation Act, as long as it is done peacefully, respects the rights of other citizens, and does not interfere with public order.

The following is the government’s statement read by Mahfud MD;
Good evening, observing developments in the field related to the delivery of aspirations for the work copyright law in various forms in a number of regions, so for the sake of order and security in the midst of society the government will convey the following matters:
1. The Job Creation Law was formed precisely to carry out the government’s duties in building community welfare through the creation of more job opportunities, protection of workers, simplifying the bureaucracy and trying to eradicate corruption and extortion and preventing other corruption crimes.
2. The government respects freedom of opinion and expresses aspirations related to the Job Creation Law as long as all this is done peacefully, respects the rights of other citizens and does not disturb public order.
3. The government regrets the existence of anarchist actions carried out by the masses in certain places by destroying public facilities, burning, injuring officers, and also looting, these actions are clearly criminal acts that cannot be tolerated and must be stopped.
4. Actions of destroying public facilities and physical attacks on apparatus and community members are actions that are not sensitive to the conditions experienced by the people who are struggling against the Covid-9 pandemic and also the difficult economic conditions
5. For this reason, for the sake of order and security, the government will take a firm stand against anarchist actions which are aimed at creating chaos and fear in society.
6. Apart from demonstrating in an orderly manner and not violating the law, dissatisfaction with the law can be pursued in a way that is in accordance with the constitution, namely by channeling it in the process of making government regulations, presidential decrees, mints, regional head offices as legislative delegates and even submitting through the JR mechanism or judicial review. as well as formal trials to the Constitutional Court.

7. Once again the government will take a firm stance and carry out legal proceedings against all perpetrators and actors who ride on anarchist actions which have already taken the form of criminal acts.
