Complete Schedule of Badminton Branches at the 2023 SEA Games in Jakarta

SEA Games 2023 will officially open over the weekend in Cambodia. Check here for the complete schedule of badminton branches at the 2023 SEA Games.

At the previous SEA Games, in 2021, Indonesia won a total of 241 medals with details of 69 gold, 91 silver and 81 bronze. The badminton branch presented 9 medals.

Of the 9 medals won by the Indonesian badminton players, 2 of them were gold pieces. There are 2 silver and 5 bronze equipping.

For SEA Games 2023, PP PBSI targets a total of 4 gold medals. There were 20 athletes fielded, with a senior-junior composition of 30:70.

“Yes, we are targeting four gold medals, from the men’s team, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and men’s singles,” said Head of Binpres PBSI Rionny Mainaky when talking with detikSport, at the PBSI National Training Center, Cipayung.

Badminton at the 2023 SEA Games itself intersects with another scheduled event, namely the 2023 Sudirman Cup, which will be held in Suzhou, China, on May 14. This made a number of top names absent from the SEA Games event this time.

With respect to this schedule, Olympics.com said top players such as Singapore’s men’s singles Loh Kean Yew would only play in the team numbers which finished on May 11, aka absent in the individual numbers which started on May 12. This gave him the opportunity to go to the 2023 Sudirman Cup after appearing in SEA Games 2023.
