VANTAA – The second day Sudirman Cup 2021 have been completed. Taking place at Energia Areena, Monday 27 September 2021, six group stage matches have been completed.
The two strongest teams in Group A, namely China and Thailand, both wiped out the second match of the group phase with wins. China won 5-0 over India, while Thailand thrashed hosts Finland 5-0.
Then in Group C, Indonesia and Denmark also managed to win over their respective opponents. Denmark overthrew Russia 4-1 while Indonesia won 3-2 over Canada.
The Red and White Team struggled to ensure victory in the second match of Group C this time. Unseeded Canada surprisingly managed to provide a fairly tight resistance.
Indonesia opened the scoring through the men’s doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. Fajar/Rian, who played in the first match, defeated Sankeerth BR/Nyl Yakura in two straight games, 21-16 and 21-10.

However, Canada gave a surprise in the women’s singles and men’s singles. Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo failed to overcome Rachel Chan’s resistance while Jonatan Christie lost to Brian Yang.
Two defeats in a row put the Red and White Team in danger. Luckily, Indonesia managed to turn things around after winning in the last two parties, namely through women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
