Jeddah: Full indigenization has begun in 14 postal and parcel work sectors in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said on Saturday (December 17) the decision to limit postal and parcel transport jobs to Saudi nationals in all regions of the country had begun. The law entered into force immediately after the deadline for the nationalization of the postal and parcel transport sectors had expired.
Officials said the indigenization of this field is a continuation of the Ministry’s efforts to provide an adequate and productive working environment for the country’s citizens, including men and women, and to increase their participation in the labor market. The goal of “Vision 2030” is to increase the contribution of natives in the economic sector behind the indigenization of work. This decision is implemented with the collaboration of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the Transport Authority.
In the decision to indigenise postal operations and parcel transportation, 14 postal work sectors will be 100% indigenised in the first phase. Cleaners and cargo workers were exempt from this rule. Delivery services via electronic platforms, local and international transport of parcels, local parcel delivery, courier business, receiving assignments, delivery and transportation of ordinary mail and postal parcels, post office management services, postal logistics services, business of private postal carriers, postal and delivery services, ordinary mail, express mail and other mail operations, postal and parcel handling and storage services will be included in the indigenisation decision.
On June 22 this year, Human Resources Minister Ng. Ahmed Bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi announced the decision to localize parcel post transportation works. In addition to this industry, 100% of CEO jobs, 60% of first-level management jobs, 70% of second-level senior management jobs, and 70% of second-level jobs were also announced that day senior management. That too will happen soon. More than 7,000 jobs are expected to be created in various regions of the country through the indigenisation of postal and parcel operations.
