Complete Chronology of the Dance Village Community Service Program in Banyuwangi that Ended in Tragedy

Banyuwangi

The Head of Welfare of Bayu Village, Sriyanto confirmed, the story in the film Dancer Village Community Service happened in his village. Then what is the complete chronology?

In 2009, there were 11 students from Surabaya who held KKN in Bayu Village, Songgon District, Banyuwangi. In that village, during KKN they lived in the village hall.

The story is as told by Sriyanto. As one of the village officials, at that time he paid enough attention to the KKN activities. Moreover, his house is not far from the village hall.

According to Sriyanto, one day, the KKN participants were curious about the beauty of Rowo Bayu. They then visited the tourist spot.

“Initially, they wanted to see Rowo Bayu. Then the names are nature lovers, they went straight to Darungan. The Bayu Lor plantation area,” said Sriyanto to detikJatim, Monday (23/5/2022).

Darungan or Pendarungan is a ‘lost’ village or a dead village. The distance is about 2 km from Rowo Bayu.

It is called a lost village because currently the village is left with a number of empty houses. The plantation workers who previously lived in these houses have moved since the 2000s.

In the late afternoon, they returned from Darungan to Bayu Village Hall. However, there was a pair of college students who chose to stay in Darungan. According to Sriyanto, they still want to enjoy the natural surroundings. However, there is also a story that the two young people committed indecent acts in Darungan.

They both came home when the sun had set. On their way home, they got an offer to stop by someone’s house.

The pair of college students accepted the offer. From here, their mystical story begins.

“Once they enter the house, they are like entering a palace. There is a king, there are ladies-in-waiting, they are treated to dances, the gamelan is complete. While enjoying the food, while enjoying the dances. Wis is like a kingdom,” said Sriyanto.

“It’s actually like entering their subtle hallucination. But they didn’t expect it. What they felt at that time was actually entering the palace of a kingdom. Like the real thing. They were treated like big guests. They were treated to dances,” he added.

Sriyanto continued his story. After eating the banquet and offering dances, they were allowed to return to their hosts. Then the two students were given provisions to eat on the way home or when they arrived at the Bayu Village Hall.

But when the package was opened on the way home, they were shocked. Because it contains a monkey’s head. They questioned where they had been before. Which turned out to be a magical place which is now known as the Dancer Village.

“They were surprised. Even though when they were at the party, they felt that meat was served, it was real meat. Rice was real rice. Finally, their minds were disturbed,” he explained.

The former villages of Darungan or Pendarungan leave a number of mystical things. Many relics are considered to refer to the horror story 'KKN Dancer Village'.The former village of Darungan/ Photo: Ardian Fanani–

Arriving at the Bayu Village Hall, the pair of students and university students told their friends about what had happened. Then the mystical story reached the village officials.

Sriyanto added that after experiencing the mystical story, the two students became ill. They were then taken back to Surabaya 5 days later, because the pain did not go away. The KKN was not completed by them.

“They both felt that the pain they felt was different than usual. In the end, everyone went home. When they came home, I led the prayer for the closing of the KKN,” said Sriyanto.

Several months later, Sriyanto received news that the two sick students had died.

“I think it’s because their minds are disturbed (after experiencing this mystical thing). Long story short like that. But in the film, it’s different, yes. There are additions,” he concluded.

The story about the KKN Dancer Village story began to occur in 2019. That was after the Twitter account @SimpleM81378523 said, there were six students who held KKN in City B, East Java in late 2009. They are students of the 2005/2006 class from a university in S City.

The six prospective scholars who held the KKN were Ayu, Nur, Widya, Wahyu, Anton and Bima. Two of them died after going through a lot of mystical things at the KKN place.

After the mystical story went viral, many people speculated and conducted searches about the place of KKN Dancer Village. The story was later recorded and filmed. Currently the film is still showing and still sucks a lot of viewers.
