Nationalgeographic.co.id – Puzzle related studies evolution human ancestry continues. Previously, it was reported that apart from genes, it was culture that greatly contributed to human evolution.
Now, scientists from the University of Cambridge are proposing a new theory that there is an ability cognitive that evolved in an effort to adapt our ancestors. They wrote it as “Complementary Cognition”, in a paper published Wednesday (16/06/2021) in Cambridge Archaeological Journal.
“This complementary system of cognition functions in a similar way to evolution at the genetic level but rather than underpinning physical adaptation, it may underlie the great ability of our species to create behavioral, cultural and technological adaptations,” said Helen Taylor, lead author of the study in the release.
