Complaints about Max fans in Austria, Formula 1 is investigating

Several complaints of transgressive behavior are circulating on the same Twitter. A girl who sells ice cream to visitors at the track is said to have been constantly harassed by ‘older drunk men’.

Racist and homophobic statements were also said to have flown over the stands. A twitterer indicates that he will probably not watch the race today.

‘drunk madmen’

A female Verstappen fan wrote: “It’s so insane. I sit there as a Max fan and feel uneasy about how these drunken lunatics are misbehaving.”

Formula 1 writes that it is aware of the complaints and calls the comments made by fans “completely unacceptable”. Security has been discussed and the women who report misconduct are also being contacted, according to a Tweet.

A Twitter user has put together quite a few complaints.

The Dutch Thijs writes, also on Twitter, that he had a similar experience in Austria last year. “Every time a woman or girl walked by in front of stands T4, they called and whistled. Even fathers with their children, people of all age groups, did it.”

He concludes by saying that this behavior is not okay: “And you put other fans in a bad light with it.”
