Complaint to the Order of Physicians against Dr Bouillon and his rapid Covid-19 screening tests

The complaint is made by the citizen movement of caregivers “Take care of care”, created to deal with the health crisis, which considers that the general practitioner endangers the population.

Dr Bouillon offers coronavirus screening tests in several municipalities of Hainaut, working within the framework of the ASBL United people of which he is a member. The problem is that these are instant response serological tests from the Medakit brand, the use of which is prohibited by a royal decree. This “self-test”, which can be purchased online and carried out alone in a few minutes, is unreliable. It does not directly detect the virus, but the production of antibodies, a sign that the person tested has been in contact with Covid-19 or not. However, a negative result does not rule out that “the subject tested is an asymptomatic carrier capable of spreading the virus”, according to the Provincial Council of the Order of Physicians of Hainaut.

For the “Take care of Care” movement, the practitioner disseminates false information, suggesting that a negative test could be reassuring.

The Council also said, this Thursday in a press release, “questioned by many practitioners who are worried about the dangers of the organization of rapid Covid-19 serological tests (Medakit). It warns the population against this kind of approach which risks giving false assurances to those who answer it. “

Last week, the police had seized the screening equipment of Doctor Bouillon in Mons. According to the prosecution, these tests “do not provide any guarantee of safety”.

As a reminder, when they are carried out under medical prescription, the cost of serological tests for the coronavirus is covered by health insurance. While Dr Bouillon writes a certificate of test result for 20 euros.
