complaint against the Cattenom nuclear power plant

Following the pollution of the Moselle by hydrocarbon discharges last February, Air Vigilance, France Nature Environnement, Lorraine Nature Environnement and the “Sortir dunuclear” network filed a complaint against the Cattenom nuclear power plant with the Thionville public prosecutor’s office for “water pollution and various breaches of nuclear regulations”.

After declaring a significant event linked to the environment to the Nuclear Safety Authority, the nuclear production center explained that “the untimely spraying of the transformer poles, which contain oil, would have caused the overflow of the collection of hydrocarbons. Oil-laden water was discharged into the Moselle. The quantity of hydrocarbons detected in the Moselle is estimated at around twenty litres.
