An incredible complaint about a case of an animal disappearing during a flight has come to light.
Specifically, the owner reported the disappearance of her beloved cat during a trip from Chania to Munich. In fact, when the Aegean flight arrived in Athens, the owner realized that her beloved cat, which is blind, was lost.
As the owner of the cat, Mary Gomes, complains, when she arrived at “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport she saw that her cat had disappeared. The representatives of Aegean told her that the cat had broken the cage!! As if this were not enough, the company manages the case as if it were a…suitcase and compensates the owners with €100. At the same time, the company’s representatives inform the passenger that investigations are being carried out about the cat.
Mary Gomes reports that the cage was intact and therefore Aegean officials broke it. In fact, she speaks of belittling behavior, and notes that when she complained about the loss, she was told that they could find her “another cat from outside”.
It is worth noting that this is a cat that Mary Gomes’ daughter had rescued from the street and also, the cat has vision problems. Leda Sifodaskalaki, who according to zoosos.gr is a member of the charity organization “Save Animals Chania” he wrote among other things:
“Mary was flying yesterday 08.03.2024 on flight A3331 from Chania to Munich with 3 boxes that had 3 kittens inside. In Athens they informed Mary that one box arrived broken without the kitten inside!!!! The kitten was most likely lost on the plane, as Mary has a document from Aegean that the 3 boxes were loaded normally on the flight from Chania to Athens..
Aegean employees were rude and did not help Mary at all at the airport in Athens, while they loaded the other 2 crates on the connecting flight and Mary had to leave for Munich. Mary’s husband went to the airport and asked to go in to look for the kitten as he knows him and knows his smell, but they wouldn’t let him!!! The case will immediately go to the police and prosecutor!!! Aegean Airlines, today at “Daskalogiannis Chania” Airport, take down the plane of flight A3331 so that special people for animals can enter to search it!!!”

“Yesterday was my daughter’s birthday, and the kitten she had rescued from the garbage, who was going for treatment to save his remaining eye, inexplicably and suspiciously disappeared at an airport.
Unfortunately, we have to accept that luggage gets lost nowadays. But it is unacceptable for a living creature.
My 3 kitties and I were on the way from Chania to Munich today. We had a stopover in Athens. Everything was fine at the check-in in Chania. The boxes were new and without any defects.
At Athens airport, after the first landing, I was called to check my 3 carry-on boxes.
One of them was so damaged on top that my kitten was gone. According to Athens airport ground staff, the 3 transport boxes had arrived this way and one of them without an animal.
They could not explain what had happened as they had not been informed of the incident by the team in Chania.
The employee who informed me even made fun of the situation and me, not realizing that I understood some of what she was saying to the colleague.
None of the staff involved supported me, there was no empathy. There was no update and I had to continue my journey without knowing what had happened to my kitten, who is blind in one eye and had little vision in the other.
Coincidentally, when we checked in today, we were given a checklist for the first time, which confirmed that the transfer had been properly delivered in accordance with the new security law.
The only reason I didn’t stay in Athens was because I had two other cats that were already on the second plane.
My husband, who lived in Chania, went to the airport to try to clarify the situation and get permission to help with the search at the airport. But he wasn’t allowed in to look for our kitten.”
