The Compiègne-Margny flying club is organizing an event in May for its 90th anniversary.
Thursday January 28, 2021, the aero club of Compiègne-Margny celebrated its 90th birthday. For the occasion, the association intends to share its rich history with the public. In this context, and if the health situation allows it anniversary will be celebrated on the aerodrome the weekend of May 15 and 16.
The purpose of the event will be to use the story of the club to discover aeronautics and its evolution. Other activities should be added to the program, before the weekend and during. First flights will also be possible.
History pictured by planes
In almost a century, the Compiègne-Margny flying club has seen a number of planes belonging to different eras. In 1931, the very first was a Caudron G3. Machine used among other things for reconnaissance missions during World War I.
Twenty different aircraft followed until the most recent such as the Cessna. All of them reveal entire sections of their time thanks to the technologies used and bear witness to the evolution of aeronautics.
The future of aviation is also discussed by the association. “The future will be cleaner, quieter, more economical planes,” writes the flying club in a press release. “The electric plane is already here, many other innovations are on the way. The history of the club remains to be written, ”he assures us.
