It must be recognized that the mid-range is not what it used to be, and we say it in the best sense, because it has improved a lot in recent years, offering mobiles like those of today, which at another time would have passed through the high range. It is the case of Realme 8 Pro and Poco X3 Pro, few give more for so little.
With these mobiles the mid-range reaches a new dimension, with very powerful processors that in some cases offer the same performance as a top-of-the-range one or two years ago, and with some features that even these had.
Screen and dimensions
We are facing phones with different aspects, as in this case, with different specifications. The screen of both phones has a different size, in fact in the Xiaomi it is larger, with a 6.67 inch size and Full HD + resolution. It has a 20: 9 aspect ratio, as well as a hole at the top of the screen with a hole-punch camera. It also has a refresh rate of 120Hz, as well as HDR10 support.
In the case of Realme 8 Pro there is a smaller screen, 6.4 inches, and Full HD + resolution. This one has Super technology AMOLED, point in its favor, although it does not have a high refresh rate as in the case of the Poco, while the aspect ratio is also 20: 9.
So as you can see, each screen has its strengths. The dimensions are conditioned by these screens, and here the Realme clearly wins, with measures of 160.6 x 73.9 x 8.1 mm while in the Poco they are 165.3 x 76.8 x 9.4 mm. On the other hand, the weight is also very different in both, the Realme also being the lightest, with a weight of 176 grams, compared to the 215 grams of the Poco.
Performance
Here we have two powerful mobiles, but the Poco is quite a bit more. In fact it is one of the most surprising aspects of this phone. Since it offers us a processor Snapdragon 860 of 7nm, which offers a performance that we can consider of a top-of-the-range mobile, which is accompanied by an Adreno 640 GPU. On the other hand, the 8 Pro offers a processor Snapdragon 720G of 8nm with an Adreno 618 GPU, which is less powerful than its opponent.
The RAM memory of the models we face is 6GB in the POCO and 8GB in the Realme, while the internal storage is 128GB in both models, also expandable through microSD cards in both cases. So when it comes to performance, the Poco certainly offers better features. Of course, it must be remembered that neither of the two phones has 5G connectivity, but it is not something decisive of course.
Photo camera
As we say, they are mobiles of a similar range, but which stand out for very different aspects. While the Poco boasts more power, the Realme does from its camera. And it is that this has a 108 megapixel main sensor f / 1.9. The ultra wide angle is 8 megapixels f / 2.3, while the macro is 2 megapixels f / 2.4 and the depth is 2 megapixels f / 2.4 as well.
The Poco for its part has a quad camera, with a sensor 48 megapixels, 8 megapixel ultra wide angle, 2 megapixel macro and 2 megapixel depth. Regarding video recording, the two can play it up to 4K resolution at 30fps. The slow motion of both is at 960fps, although with HD resolution on the Realme and Full HD on the Poco.
In front, the camera for taking selfies is 16 megapixels in the 8 Pro, while in the X3 Pro it is 20 megapixels. In this case, the former can record video at 1080p up to 120fps, while the latter also does so at the same resolution, although up to 30fps.
Battery, connectivity and software
Here the battery and charge of both stands out for different aspects. While in the Realme it has less capacity with 4500mAh, it charges faster thanks to the fast charging of 50W, which charges it to 100% in 47 minutes. For its part, the Poco has a larger battery of 5160mAh, but the load is less powerful, of 33W, and fully charges in 59 minutes. Both have Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC to be able to make mobile payments in establishments, 3.5mm minijack connector, and USB type C connector.
In Poco there is FM Radio. The Poco also offers stereo speakers, and the Realme 8 Pro meanwhile, it boasts a fingerprint reader under the screen. The two phones hit the market with Android 11, with Realme UI 2.0 and MIUI 12 respectively. Although as you know the Poco could have their own layer, for now it is still Xiaomi’s.
Price and conclusion
The truth is that we are facing two surprising mobiles, of everything they offer us for a really competitive price. Although they do not have 5G connectivity, they offer us other characteristics that make them essential mobile phones, each in its own way. Of the Realme 8 Pro we can say that it stands out for its compact size, lighter, AMOLED screen with fingerprint reader, higher RAM, the camera of 108 megapixels and for a faster charge. For its part, the Poco X3 Pro undoubtedly stands out in its processor, authentic high-end, and also in the refresh rate of the screen. As well as a larger battery.
Buy Realme 8 Pro
Buy Poco X3 Pro
Therefore we could say that if we are interested in Photography and image quality, our mobile should be the Realme. In the case of wanting above all a lot of power, our choice should be that of the Little. And more taking into account the prices, since the first we can buy it for 249 euros, while the second can be bought right now for less than 220 euros. They are not great differences in price, and therefore it is the details and preferences of use that should make us choose the one that best suits our needs. It is certainly the best that you can buy in the mid-range at an affordable price.
