Comparison of Specifications: Samsung Galaxy A05 vs Samsung Galaxy A05s

KOMPAS.com – Samsung has just introduced its newest duo of cheap smartphones, aka entry-level, from the A-series family. The two phones are Galaxy A05 and Galaxy A05s.

The price of the Samsung A05 in Indonesia is IDR 1 million. Meanwhile, the price of the Samsung A05s is set at IDR 2 million. Judging from the design, the two look identical.

The front of the Samsung A05 and Samsung A05s are both decorated with waterdrop-like bangs to accommodate the front camera, as well as the rear sensor which is directly embedded in the shell without a module.

Apart from that, the screen size of both is also the same, although the specifications are slightly higher than the Galaxy A05s. Apart from screen specifications, several other sectors are also different, such as the System-on-Chip (SoC) embedded and the variants available.

Both also have different rear camera configurations, even though they carry the same main camera. For more details, below is a comparison of the specifications of the Samsung A05 and Samsung A05s on paper.

Screen

As mentioned previously, the Galaxy A05 and Galaxy A05s come with the same screen model. However, the Galaxy A05s offers a higher resolution and refresh rate than the Galaxy A05.

The Galaxy A05s appears with a 6.7 inch IPS screen, Full HD Plus resolution, and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A05 comes with a 6.7 inch PLS screen, HD Plus resolution and a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

The difference in refresh rate and resolution numbers certainly affects the user’s visual experience when scrolling the screen. The higher the resolution, the clearer the visuals or graphics displayed will appear. A high refresh rate will make the screen scrolling experience smoother.

Camera

The difference between the two is in the camera. On the back, the Galaxy A05 only has two camera sensors, while the Galaxy A05s has three camera sensors.

The Galaxy A05 camera configuration is a 50 MP main camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. Then, the Galaxy A05s comes with a 50 MP main camera, 2 MP macro lens and 2 MP depth lens. However, both are compact and accompanied by an LED flash.

Apart from the different rear camera, the Galaxy A05s has a front camera with a higher resolution, namely 13 MP. Meanwhile, the selfie camera resolution of the Galaxy A05 is stuck at 8 MP.

Chipset

The Galaxy A05s is powered by a chip from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 680 SoC (System-on-Chip). This chip consists of eight cores, namely four Cortex-A73 cores with a clock speed of 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores with a speed of 1.9 GHz.

Snapdragon 680 relies on a graphics processing card (GPU) from Adreno 610. Unlike the Galaxy A05, the device relies on a chip made by MediaTek, Helio G85.

This chip also consists of eight cores consisting of two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. Each core offers clock speeds of up to 2 GHz and 1.8 GHz. The GPU used is Mali-G52 MP2.

RAM and storage

Currently, the Galaxy A05s is only available in one RAM variant and storage capacity, namely 6/128 GB.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A05 offers more RAM and storage options. There are three options consisting of 4/64 GB, 4/128 GB, and 6/128 GB.

Both devices offer expansion of their storage capacity up to 1 TB using microSD. Meanwhile, the RAM size can be expanded up to 6 GB using the RAM Plus feature.

Other features

The Galaxy A05s adopts a fingerprint scanner integrated with the power button (side-mounted fingerprint) as a device security system. This supporting feature is not available on the Galaxy A05s.

The supporting features that both have are that they both support the USB-C port. This port can be used for charging or data transfer. Both also offer Black, Silver and Light Green color options.
