Listening to music has been associated with mobile phones for almost two decades. After all, the first mobile phone capable of playing MP3 files was introduced in 2001 and it was the Siemens SL45. The boom came a little later, as soon as mobile phones learned to support memory cards and ideally had a 3.5 mm jack for easy connection of headphones. The paradox is that nowadays many phones do not have either, and yet almost all of us use them to listen to music. Our headphones are wireless, and the music either fits into the device’s memory, or we stream it directly. And today we will focus on streaming services. Few people want to convert physical albums into digital form at length, or perhaps download music illegally.
You will find several streaming services on the market, through which you can listen to more than tens of millions of songs, wherever you are. Many of you have probably heard of Spotify or Apple Music, but there are others. For the purposes of at least a basic overview, we have selected five. We add YouTube Music, Tidal and Deezer to the two already mentioned.

I want to listen to streaming music, what do I need?
First of all, we will assume that you primarily want to listen via mobile phone. You can download the appropriate application to it. Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal and Deezer all have apps for Android and iOS. Subsequently, you must log in to the service, if you are new, it will be necessary to register through your e-mail.
I want to listen but I don’t want to pay, is that possible?
If for some reason you don’t want/can’t pay for streaming, there is a solution. These are free tariffs with advertising. These are offered by Spotify and YouTube Music. Just log in and start playing. In addition to being limited to ads that play once in a while, you are limited to how many songs you can skip. With Spotify, you can’t even play any song, only a playlist.
I’m undecided, is there a trial period?
Yes, all the services mentioned today have a free trial period, so you can easily use each one and finally decide on the one that suits you best. However, the length of the trial period is different for each service and may change depending on different promotions. As a rule, you can rely on a monthly trial period, i.e. 30 days. However, Spotify is now offering 90 days free for a limited time on the basic plan, as is Apple Music. However, it is always necessary to add a payment card so that the pre-selected tariff can be activated after the trial period has expired. However, you can always cancel the service before the end of the trial period and pay nothing. The trial period can only be used once per account.

Which service will offer more music?
In this regard, the general perception is that Spotify dominates. It may be true, but he will no longer have a significant lead in this regard. The services themselves claim that their music libraries have more than 100 million songs. This applies to Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal. Deezer offers over 90 million songs, while YouTube Music has the least, with 80 million.
How much will it cost me to stream?
Each music streaming service offers different plans. Basic is always intended for one user, but of course it can be used on multiple devices. However, only on one at a time. YouTube Music currently has the cheapest tariff for CZK 145 per month. The competition is about 20 CZK more expensive, the exception being Deezer with a significantly higher price of 269 CZK. It is worth noting that YouTube Music also provides you with Premium YouTube, so in practice, for 145 CZK you get not only music, but also all videos without ads. We break down all types of prices below in a clear table.
