Comparison of Appearance: Core i7-14700K vs Core i7-13700K

Comparing the appearance of Core i7-14700K and Core i7-13700K

The AKIBA PC Hotline! editorial department also purchased a Core i7-14700K during the night sale!

I was thinking of doing a performance comparison review of the old and new Core i7, but the writer told me, “Did you know that Intel CPUs currently on sale have multiple heat spreader patterns?” so I decided to check it out. I decided to take a look. Below are images of the Core i7-14700K and Core i7-13700K purchased by the editorial department.

All images are Core i7-14700K on the left and Core i7-13700K on the right.

Honestly, I don’t think you can understand it at first glance, but the people who understand it are quite CPU enthusiasts. I didn’t understand unless you told me (lol).

The following is an easy-to-understand part of the difference, and I think you can see the difference if you look at it close up.

Intel’s heat spreaders seem to have some that have a right-angled boundary between the surfaces, and others that have a smooth, chamfered surface.

In addition, right-angled ones are not new, and according to the writer who told me, “The Core i9-13900K I have is right-angled, but the Core i9-14900K I tested was chamfered. The Celeron I have is also chamfered. “I don’t know why they are changing it.” It doesn’t seem like they are divided by generation.

Although it has not been confirmed, two types of heat spreaders may be used for CPUs with the same model number. I don’t think there will be a clear difference in performance depending on the heat spreader, but it is a bit of a concern.

The package design seems to have changed slightly between the new and old versions. If you compare them side by side, you can see the differences in the size and placement of the letters, the position of the generation, etc.Core i9-14900KCore i9-14900KFCore i7-14700KCore i7-14700KFCore i5-14600KCore i5-14600KF
