Toyota has completely overhauled the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix family car. Now, the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix does not have a diesel engine option. In fact, the Innova’s diesel engine is highly coveted because it is economical and powerful.
Even so, now the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid has arrived. Its power is not inferior to that of the Innova Reborn with a diesel engine.
The Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV optimizes the control of energy production in the petrol engine and electric motor. The Innova Zenix Hybrid EV marries a 2,000cc M20A-FXS coded TNGA engine with an electric motor. The petrol engine has a power output of 152 HP at 6,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 187.3 Nm at 4,400-5,200 rpm. Meanwhile, the electric motor produces 113bhp with 205.9Nm of torque. The combined output of the hybrid system reaches 186 HP.
Compared to the previous generation Innova Diesel, the power of the Innova Zenix hybrid engine is much greater. For comparison, the Innova Reborn diesel engine has a power of 149 HP at 3,400 rpm with a maximum torque of 359.9 Nm at 1,200-2,800.
Regarding fuel consumption, Toyota also claims that the Innova Zenix Hybrid is more economical than the previous diesel engine. PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) marketing director Anton Jimmi Suwandy said the fuel consumption of the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid could be more than 20km/litre.
“Regarding fuel consumption, the fuel consumption of the old diesel car is around 1 liter against 14 km. The new one, even the petrol one, is already 1 liter against 15 km. Also, the hybrid one is 1 liter against 21km So from an economic point of view, both petrol and hybrid are cheaper than diesel,” said Anton.
Anton continued, Innova Zenix has a new engine, lighter weight and better power to weight ratio. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is said to be better than diesel.
“So our hope is that consumers can experience the efficiency and performance of this new car firsthand,” he said.
